A friend swapped a pair of new Redback Chef shoes for a broke in pair of the other Australia steel toe work boots 🥾 that I used as hikers. I am not knocking the other brand they are great work boots. I have two pairs of steel toe and two pairs of metatarsal work that the company supplies. They are great. However he wanted broken in boots for hiking to and from where he rock climbed.

Well it took me about a month of wearing these shoes to and from work to break them in so maybe an hour a day. Never had a blister, feet were never sore. They looked great with my jeans. Yes I kept them looking nice with boot cream one every two weeks. Yes they were polished about once a month. They became my hang around, go to town, shoes. I found that I could wear them all day long with out sore feet. Wore the in sole out long before the out sole showed any wear. Great in spring, summer and fall. The tread however means they are not great in a Canadian winter. They are the reason I bought the slip on redback boots.

My only complaint is the are only available in black. Would love to see them in a tan newbuck leather.

I've worn these boots in professional kitchens for over a year now generally anywhere around 50-80 hours 5-6 days per week. They have held up quite well, with most of the wear around the area where I bend the ball of my foot, inside heel where there is no leather and the stretch fabric has become a little bit looser as time goes on. They are extremely comfortable and very stable on your feet. The grip works very well in most all conditions from water on a kitchen floor or parking lot to walking across a floor full of spilt fryer grease and other food products. A bit on the pricey side for a pair of shoes to spill food on in the kitchen all day but the leather is nice and they are comfortable after 15 hours.

I have to say this is by far the best kitchen shoes I have ever bought and worn for the past 8 years. They last me a year with the best comfort especially with that outer sole that hold to the ground when water is spilled. The inside snuggles great on my foot and that leather smell that just makes the boot pop knowing danm well (it was perfect, perfect, everything down to the last minute detail). It's sad that this boot will no longer be available to buy since its going to be discontinue which is horrible since i have to search for something new. If i knew ahead of time i would have order 2 pairs since i live in America kitchen shoes that have a smooth toe box as a slip on are hard to fine now you see crocs with those bulky toe box that don't look professional. Redback makes incredible work boots but this one here was a work of art that will be missed. If it ever comes back i'll be sure to order a pair when it returns. I can talk all day about this boot how it saved my life, made my feet feel great to work all night in, how its so easy to put on and off how the arch never broke down and how i never gotten foot pain like everyone else . I used to work as a retail boot seller in SoCal that when i saw redback USBBK and notice the Retro kitchen shoe which i needed for my culinary classes. Once i bought a pair and used them i would sell those boots and recommend them to anyone working in the kitchen its pricy but its worth it since its coming from Australia. BEST KITCHEN/WORKBOOT EVER PERIOD!
